From Kim Kardashian West’s nails to homemade makeup wipes, DIY beauty hacks are on the rise in lockdown.
Flawless.org decided to investigate this by looking at average monthly search volumes on Google to see the most-searched beauty questions. And the findings are (drumroll, please):
Top hair-related questions
Here in quarantine lockdown, we’ve no choice but to take our tresses into our own hands. And while we’ve nailed the 7 Steps to a DIY Blowdry, these most-searched questions cover the rest of the basics of hair in lockdown.
- How to curl hair with a straightener?
- How to cut your own hair?
- How to grow hair faster?
- How often should you wash your hair?

Top nail-related questions
It seems getting our nails done is another key part of life we are missing out on during COVID-19 and it shows through the average search patterns.
- How to remove acrylic nails?
- Kim’s nails?
- How to fix a broken nail?
- How to get stronger nails DIY
- How to make DIY Nails?
Top celeb/influencer makeup searches
One thing that Flawless.org noticed when researching was that, with the current restrictions, we’re looking more than ever to celebrities and influencers for inspiration. Our most-searched celebs during the coronavirus are:
- James Charles
- Kylie Jenner
- Jeffree Star
- Ariana Grande
- Kim Kardashian
So, despite all the challenges in the world at the moment, people are still trying to look – and feel – great. There’s (usually) no harm in trying out some DIY beauty methods – but for the big ones, like a haircut, it might be worthwhile to wait it out until the salons are open again and avoid a #CovidCut!
