Global Weight Management Congress

    The inaugural Global Weight Management Congress will unveil new research and findings in managing Australia’s obesity epidemic.

    ‘With obesity now reaching epidemic proportions, it is clear that the current methodologies and practices need to be reviewed, with the view of finding a new way forward,’ explains Sonja Bella, organiser of the event and Founder of the Australian Institute of Weight Loss Consultants.

    The Congress will bring together the world’s top experts in obesity and general health, and the program will cover the best practice methodologies to promote a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to weight management.

    Keynote speakers include

    • Assoc Prof Anna Peeters, VicHealth Research Fellow and the Head of Obesity and Population Health at the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute who will be giving the opening keynote address on ‘Prevalence and trends of obesity in Australia’.
    • Dr Helena Popovic, Australia’s leading authority on neuro-plasticity, who will speak on ‘Can neuroscience provide a new way forward for weight management?’
    • Dr Cris Beer, an expert in nutritional medicine, who will present research on ‘Nutrigenomics: how food changes your genes’.
