Dyson has announced that the Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer, their first major hair dryer innovation since the Dyson Supersonic in 2016, will now be available to consumers this year.
Dyson’s lightest and most powerful hair dryer was first available to professional stylists exclusively in 2024, with the innovative technology available for general sale in 2025 in the exclusive Jasper Plum, inspired by the rare purple jasper gemstone and Ceramic Pink colourways, inspired by the orient of a pearl.
The announcement comes following demand from users hungry to achieve high-quality professional results at home. The Dyson Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer is 30% smaller, 20% lighter and more manoeuvrable than the original Supersonic hair dryer, delivering fast drying, smoother and shinier results, making quality finishes available to all.
To celebrate, Sir James Dyson and Kathleen Pierce, Dyson Beauty President, have returned to Paris, a city that Dyson’s Founder and Chief Engineer are fond of, returning to the brand’s first Dyson Demo Store on Rue de la Boetie. The Demo Store, which opened in 2000, offered a fundamentally different way to show technology, and has paved the way for similar stores to take flight across the globe.
Continuing to push boundaries of innovation, the ergonomic Supersonic r™ is Dyson’s most precise hair dryer to date, presenting industry-grade capabilities for everyday looks. Featuring top-of-the-line technology and engineered for precision, the Dyson Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer has been an essential tool in the styling kits of talent such as Sam McKnight, Eugene Souleiman and Lacy Redway, who choose the hair dryer for its enhanced manoeuvrability, comfort and precision. With 5 attachments, and paired with three precision airflow settings, it utilises integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors to deliver optimal airflow and temperature, designed for consumers to use the tool with ease without interrupting the styling session.
The Supersonic r™ Hair Dryer will be available to purchase in Australia in the coming months. Join the waitlist to find out more information on local availability on the Dyson website: https://www.dyson.com.au/sign-up/new-launches/hair-care.
