The new Gucci Beauty campaign features Ellie Goldstein, the first model with Down Syndrome to strike a pose for Gucci Beauty. modelling the brand’s L’Obscur mascara.
The 18-year-old British beauty took part in a campaign for the luxury brand, modelling the new buildable L’Obscur mascara, with the photos featuring in Vogue Italia.
The result of an Instagram scouting project, selecting Goldstein as the ideal face for the product aligns with Gucci Beauty’s objectives of ‘supporting emerging talents and promoting the theme of unconventional and non-stereotypical beauty,’ according to a release for the campaign.
‘I designed L’Obscur mascara for an authentic person who uses makeup to tell their story of freedom, in their way,’ says Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele.
Fans across the world have applauded Gucci Beauty as it moves towards an aesthetic that is increasingly inclusive and more representative of its diverse group of consumers. Goldstein’s image on @guccibeauty has become Gucci Beauty’s most liked Instagram post ever.
‘I enjoy being a role model,’ the model told British Vogue. ‘It shows that if you follow your hopes and dreams, you can achieve anything Be yourself and don’t worry about what other people think of you.
‘My hope as a model is to become famous one day. My dream job [is to] be on the front cover of Vogue and work for other big brands. My hopes and dreams are to show the world who I am and what I can achieve.”
Goldstein, who has already modelled for other mega labels like Nike and Vodafone, is represented by specialist talent agency Zebedee Management.
