Non-surgical skin tightening procedures are skyrocketing in popularity. What role do these technologies play in reversing the signs of ageing?

There was a time when a patient’s option was only surgery, or the non-surgical options were very much in their infancy and with minimal efficacy. The necessity for low-downtime, non-surgical procedures has led to the advent of more effective energy-based skin tightening procedures.

Who is a good candidate?

Good candidates for EndyMed are typically those who have mild to moderate skin laxity, wrinkles or other signs of ageing, as well as those who wish to improve the overall health and appearance of their skin.

Patients with mild to moderate acne scarring, even those with active acne, are also good candidates, and we often combine medical management with EndyMed treatments simultaneously. The great thing is, EndyMed is suitable for all skin types and can be tailored to meet individual patient needs.

What are your patients saying about EndyMed?

Patient satisfaction with EndyMed is very high and thus we carry this device in all three of my Brisbane Skin practices. My patients like the fact they can generally wear makeup and get back to work the next day but still get significant results over a prescribed treatment course.

What areas of the face and body can be treated?

EndyMed can be used to treat a range of areas on the face and body, including the forehead, cheeks, jowls, neck, arms, abdomen and thighs. My favourite procedure is the RF microneedling mode, which I think is one of the industry’s leading technologies for RF microneedling. I achieve consistent results for overall rejuvenation, undereye wrinkles and acne scarring, and it is one of my go-to devices for darker skin tones.

How many treatments are required and what does the treatment feel like?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the individual patient’s concerns, skin type and capacity for downtime. We do a thorough assessment at the first consult, and can prescribe a treatment protocol that will produce desired outcomes for most patients. Typically, patients require a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Treatment is well-tolerated, with minimal discomfort.

When do patients start seeing results?

Generally, patients will start seeing results even after the first treatment; however, we do explain that improvements continue with subsequent treatments and encourage a treatment course to be followed to completion. Beyond that, we generally then prescribe a maintenance plan for them.

Is there any downtime or side effects?

There is typically no downtime associated with EndyMed’s skin tightening treatments, and minimal/ short downtime for fractional or RF microneedling treatments, with some patients experiencing mild redness and swelling immediately following the treatment. Most patients can wear makeup and return to work within 24-48 hours.
