That moment when you wake up after a big night and think you’re dead. Yep, we’ve all been there. You can’t move, you have a pounding headache and your mouth is so dry it feels like Velcro.
But alas, you remember CosBeauty’s wonderful beauty tips for the ultimate hangover and, voila! You look human again! You definitely didn’t wake up like this, but no one has to know that. It’s also worth remembering that on a day like New Year’s Day, everyone feels just as shit as you. Cheers!
1. What you do before you go to bed is important
If you know tomorrow morning is going to be rough do your future self a favour and scull at least one glass of water before going to bed. Don’t forget to take your makeup off and prop yourself up with an extra pillow. This will help stop the dreaded puffy eyes the next morning.
2. Apply face mist
The thirst of your skin is very real. If you have it, apply some face mist to get some moisture back in there. This will give your face a little jump-start.
3. Cold spoons under the eyes
Followed number 1, but still have those haven’t-slept-a-wink bags? Spoons are you answer. Make a quick trip to the kitchen and put some spoons in your fridge. Press a chilled spoon (or anything cold like a bag of peas or a cucumber slice) under your eyes for about 15-20 seconds. This will restrict blood vessels and reduce puffiness.
4. Dry shampoo is your BFF
Sometimes even washing your hair can be out of the questions. This is where Dry Shampoo comes in. Sent from the gods, this bad boy is a lifesaver. Just spray some at your roots and massage it through your hair to get that fresh ‘just washed’ looked without actually washing it.
5. Half-up half-down
I’ve only recently learnt this bad boy, and it’s good. Real good. Not only is it flattering on almost any face shape, and any hair length, but the half-up half-down is like a mini facelift.
6. Bright lipstick
Get into it. Swiping a bit of bright lippie on will make you look and feel more put together. It will also distract people into thinking you actually put a lot of time into getting ready when you really just put it on lying on your deathbed.
7. Curl your lashes
It only takes a couple of seconds, but the difference is unreal. This small step opens your eyes and makes you look like you are alert and living again. Do it.
8. Load on some mascara
Add a few coats of mascara to brighten the whites of your eyes. If you can manage it, you can also add some black eyeliner.
9. Use white eyeliner under your eyes
A little white eyeliner on your lower lash line will make your eyes pop and remove the attention from the redness that may be creeping up.
10. Conceal and contour
Hide the effects of last night by adding a light brightening concealer to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and t-zone.
11. Get some pink on those cheeks
Make yourself look a little more alive by sweeping some blush on the apples of your cheeks. It will make your face look bright and dewy.
Wow, you lookin’ flawless.
