With all the decorating, cooking, and other preparations that you need to complete for the holidays, the last thing you need to worry about is your hair. So step into your Christmas party outfit and style your hair with one of these effortless looks, and you’ll be ready to stun for the season.
EFFORTLESSLY EFFORTLESS low pony
For all those times when your hair just isn’t cooperating, mastering a loweffort low pony is one of the easiest and quickest ways to glam up your look. Using a natural bristle brush, simply pull your hair back sleek and tight or keep it loose and boho at the nape of your neck for an elegant, perennially on-trend hairdo.
For added drama, apply a nourishing styling oil or clay and set it with spray.
MESSY up-dos
Whether it’s a messy bun or a modern take on the beehive, this style can give you a day to evening look faster than you can say ‘See you later, 2020!’.
For a messy bun with lots of volume, start by spraying a fine mist of volumising hairspray or dry shampoo to add texture and gripping power. Pull your hair into a ponytail, as high or as low as you like. Twist the hair, and spin it around the base of the ponytail, continuing to wrap so that it forms a loose bun. Secure with a hair tie and bobby pins. To make it extra messy, selectively loosen sections of hair and pull out pieces to frame your face.
DIY blowout
There’s nothing quite like that ‘fresh from the salon’ blowout. If you can’t make it to your hairdresser’s, it’s easy to recreate the look at home with the right tools and products. The first trick is to make sure you shampoo your hair twice. The first washes, the second nourishes (and really scrub at that scalp to help remove product build-up). Follow up with a moisturising conditioner.
Next add a heat protectant spray to damp hair. By adding a heat protectant to your DIY blow-dry, you can help seal in moisture and protect against damage. Most of your favourite haircare brands should carry a heat protector in their range.
To achieve a salon-worthy oomph with plenty of extra volume use a volumising spray on your roots. Not only will this add volume but it will also help your bounce stay around longer.
Using a bristle brush, dry your hair away from your face, back on itself, and then downwards, which will help your hair cuticles lie flatter and make it smoother at the root. Add bounce by brushing the mid-lengths and ends in alternating directions.
For loose, tousled waves, use a curling wand on sections of the hair and style away from your face.
