In 2009 Julien Sprecher founded Parfums de Marly. He was inspired by the period during the reign of King Louis XIV in France. This period was the pinnacle of the fragrance world, called the Perfume Court, during which time a new fragrance was produced almost every day. It was a time of a passionate love of perfume.
Parfums De Marly takes its name from the exquisite chateau in which King Louis XIV resided. Julien wanted Parfums de Marly to produce two fragrances every year, with a mandate for them to naturally inspired, luxurious and unique. There are now 37 Parfums de Marly signature fragrances in circulation, with each proving to be modern-day classics.
Today, Julien continually sources the globe looking to partner with the most innovative perfumers, including Hamid Merati-Kashani, Olivier Pescheux, Olivier Cresp and Quentin Bisch.
Each Parfums de Marly fragrance is unique, down to the sourcing of individual ingredients. One example is the vanilla they use in their perfumes. Their vanilla plants are grown in special fields in Madagascar and hand fertilised with the most nutritious bee pollen available. The end result is a vanilla so unlike any other in its beauty and fragrance.
Francois Debuche, APAC Commercial Director of Parfums de Marly, says he is inspired daily with the passion that flows through the fragrance house – from manufacture to delivery. Francois recently came to Australia to open the first standalone Parfums de Marly store in the Strand Arcade in Sydney. If you are lucky enough to visit, it truly is a beautiful sensory experience.
Parfums de Marly is now one of the biggest-selling luxury perfume brands in the world. Each bottle is unique, but all bear the coat of arms of 18th century Paris during the reign of Louis VIX. They also depict the ‘Marly Horses’, a pair of bronze statues commissioned by Louis XV for the trough at the entrance of his château de Marly.
Some of their latest fragrances include Haltane, Althair, Valaya and Oriana. This truly is an exceptional fragrance house, with scents that will stand the test of time.
