No matter how much hair we have, most of us have at least considered the manscaping option if we haven’t tackled it already. A recent Men’s Health revealed that 62% of men trim or shave below the belt.

So as to accommodate those of us who are a little shy, and don’t want the help of a professional, Manscaped has released a DIY kit to help men get a great result down there.

Manscaped have a great track record in the men’s grooming department with a range that covers all parts of the body on which hair grows.

This includes:

  • The Plow 2.0 – an old-style single blade double-edged safety razor ‘for face use’
  • The Weed Whacker – an electric ear and nose hair trimmer
  • The Shears 2.0 – a luxury 4-piece nail kit
  • The Lawn Mower 4.0 – the latest waterproof groin and body trimmer
  • The Crop Shaver – a three blade lubricated shaver for down there and included in the Ultra Smooth Package.

The Ultra Smooth Package

This is where it all gets serious guys! The Ultra Smooth Package is designed to give you an ultra-smooth package.

It is billed as ‘shaving care for skin down there‘ and consists of:

  • Crop Exfoliator – a gentle exfoliant for the groin area
  • Crop Gel – a clear groin shaving gel
  • The Crop Shaver – a three blade cartridge razor with lubricated skin bars.

The instructions are quite explicit, and as this was my first time without a professional with a wax pot at hand, I thought I should follow them to the letter:

  1. Get in the shower.
  2. Scrub it (or them, more accurately) – apply Crop Exfoliator, massage gently and rinse.
  3. Lube up – apply Crop Gel to freshly cleansed skin.
  4. It’s showtime – slowly glide your Crop Shaver in the direction of hair growth rinsing the razor after each pass and repeat. When you’re smoother than an aged whiskey, rinse thoroughly.

The results?

As the name suggested, the result is ‘smooth’.

I was a little dubious about the need for an exfoliator, but inclusion in the routine to remove any debris/loose skin cells down there as the first step seems to be a good preparation for the next steps – and lets face it all good skincare regimes include this step.

The shaving gel in the step two feels great on the skin and clings to the skin, which it needs to when used under the shower and neither are overly scented.

The ‘Crop Shaver’ is compact and has a textured surface on the handle making it easy to grip in the shower. The blades are great quality and spaced perfectly to clean easily under the water flow, and being a triple blade, it gives a completely smooth finish on the first pass.

While I was in the shower, I finished off with the ‘Crop Cleanser’ (hair and body wash) which has aloe vera and sea salt. It hydrates the skin and leaves you feeling invigorated. It is a refreshing all-in-one cleanser post-trimming.

To complete my manscaping event, after drying I applied a little ‘Crop Preserver’ (to deodorise and moisturise) and ‘Crop Reviver’ (one spritz and you feel like you’re standing naked in front of a fan).

Fears allayed. Downstairs feels as smooth and fresh as if I’d had a trip to a professional.
