Every year in April, brands across the globe pause to reflect on how they can celebrate Earth Day and start doing more for the environment, whether it is through fundraising campaigns, product changes or simply raising awareness. One brand that puts continuous effort into its sustainability practices is Aveda and this year has been no different.
Discover everything Aveda has done to celebrate Earth Month 2022:
Aveda x Take 3 for the Sea
Take 3 for the Sea is an award-winning non-profit organisation that aims to reduce waste and plastic pollution, by encouraging people to pick up three pieces of rubbish before leaving the beach, waterway or any other location.
To celebrate Earth Day 2022, Aveda has partnered with the global Take 3 movement and is on a mission to raise $100K to support the non-profit with education, social and community groups across Australia and ultimately remove 1.5 million pieces of rubbish that would otherwise end up in the ocean.
Those wanting to be a part of the change with Aveda can easily donate anywhere from $5 up (for every $10 raised, 15 pieces of rubbish are removed from the environment – so a little can go a long way!), create their own supporting fundraiser or purchase a limited-edition scrunchie trio, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to Take 3 for the Sea.
New responsible packaging
Based on the same mission – to reduce plastic waste – Aveda has debuted one of its most groundbreaking innovations yet: paper-based, recyclable beauty sample sachets, that require at least 36% less water usage and 37% fewer emissions than the multilaminate sachets commonly used in the beauty industry.
“At Aveda, we understand the relevance of sampling our products; in line with our Mission, and without compromise on product quality or consumer experience. I am extremely proud of our 3-year development partnership with Xela Pack to deliver this breakthrough sampling innovation,” explains Edmond Irizarry, Executive Director of Global Packaging Development at Aveda.
Initially, the 10ml eco-friendly sachets will feature Aveda’s award-winning botanical repair™ strengthening shampoo and conditioner, and the plan is to expand “this technology to other markets and categories in the near future,” shares Irizarry.
Cruelty-free since day 1 – and now 100% vegan
Aveda has been cruelty-free since it was established in 1978 and in January of 2021, it removed all animal byproducts from its formulas to become 100% vegan, one of the brand’s proudest achievements when it comes to its eco-friendly efforts.
The brand is also committed to increasing its use of naturally derived ingredients whenever possible, sourcing them from sustainable plant-based origins without negatively impacting the ecosystems they come from.
Aveda is passionate about celebrating our planet every day and you can be a part of its mission. Help the brand make a positive impact to minimise waste and donate to Take 3 for the Sea!
