As we say hasta la vista, baby, to a very bizarre year, it’s time to get our priorities straight. That’s right, we’re advocating to take self-care up a notch and change the things that are bothering us.
First on our hit list is CoolSculpting, a non-surgical, non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses very cold temperatures to kill off excess fat cells, permanently.
Freezing fat
With minimal to no downtime, long-lasting results and high patient satisfaction, CoolSculpting remains the world leader in non-invasive fat reduction, with more than 8 million treatments performed worldwide.
CoolSculpting is the pioneering cryolipolysis (fat freezing) technology for body contouring and offers a non-invasive means to sculpt the body by permanently reducing adipose (fat) tissue. Treatment can achieve fat layer reductions of up to 27% across multiple treatment areas – and this groundbreaking treatment is backed by over 60 scientific publications.
What the experts are saying
We spoke with Sydney plastic surgeon Dr Gavin Sandercoe to get a specialist’s opinion on this very cool technology.
‘CoolSculpting is the pioneer of non-surgical fat reduction,’ he says. ‘We have found that our patients are well-researched before attending their consultation and have chosen a CoolSculpting clinic based on CoolSculpting’s strong reputation.
‘The success of CoolSculpting can be attributed to years of extensive clinical trials and product development. Its excellent safety profile is also high on our list of reasons for trusting CoolSculpting for our patients.’
Dr Sandercoe, who has been using CoolSculpting in his practice for seven years, says CoolSculpting has been a great asset to have alongside surgical options for his patients.
‘In some cases, a patient may decide they are not interested in surgery or the downtime required for recovery. It is great being able to offer CoolSculpting as an alternative for these patients. In some cases, we may even perform both – that is, liposuction or surgery on some areas and CoolSculpting on others that are more suited to the non-surgical option,’ he says.
And CoolSculpting isn’t just popular with the ladies. He says there has been a big uptake in men having the procedure.
‘Men have the same issues as women with stubborn fat in areas that are resistant to diet and exercise, commonly the love handle/hip area,’ he says. ‘Typically we see men who work really hard at the gym and as a result are very fit and defined but can’t shift the love handles. CoolSculpting is ideal for this and offers them a non-surgical solution to sculpt and reshape their body proportions. The male chest is another popular area of treatment.’
Dr Sandercoe says, in his experience, results are impressive.
‘Patients have been very satisfied that there is finally a way to see areas reduce in size,’ he shares. ‘One area with particularly high patient satisfaction is submental fat. A double chin is often hereditary and impervious to exercise and diet. Patients are very happy when we are able to provide them with an option to reduce the appearance of a double chin without surgery.’

How CoolSculpting works
1. The CoolSculpting procedure targets and cools fat cells to temperatures that trigger fat cell apoptosis (death of the fat cell).
2. CoolSculpting selectively damages subcutaneous fatty tissue while preserving the skin and surrounding tissues.
3. Following treatment, fat cells enter apoptosis and the body’s immune system naturally processes the fat and removes dead cells. With a healthy diet and exercise, results can be permanent.
4. CoolSculpting has demonstrated fat layer reductions across multiple treatment areas of up to 27%.
