Dr Warwick Nettle of Silkwood Medical in Sydney’s Bondi Junction is pleased to welcome Dr Amira Sanki to his talented team of aesthetic specialists. Dr Sanki is a fully qualified specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon with experience and expertise in tummy tucks, breast surgery (implants, lifting and reduction) and body contouring after pregnancy and significant weight loss.
Amira graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2000 with Honours in Medicine and Surgery. She undertook her internship at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and has trained intensively in General and Plastic Surgery in Sydney for over 10 years. Upon receiving her Fellowship in Plastic Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Sanki commenced practice as an aesthetic plastic surgeon with a special interest in cosmetic surgery for the breast and body.
As a female plastic surgeon, Dr Sanki offers the advantage of understanding how women express the changes they seek in their appearance. ‘All patients have a right to the highest standards of understanding, advice, ethics and technique. This starts with me giving every patient my focused attention, and listening to his or her goals and concerns,’ she says.
‘My role is to advise patients on what options they have, and the pros and cons of each. My philosophy is to give patients the same advice I would give family and friends. At times, plastic surgery is not the right answer. When it is a good answer, it is my responsibility to ensure patients are fully informed, and have confidence that I will take good care of them.’
Dr Sanki works hard to ensure that every aspect of a patient’s surgery experience is positive. For interested patients, she offers an all-female surgical team to ensure comfort is always a top priority.
Qualifications
Dr Sanki has trained to the highest standards. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons specialising in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (FRACS Plast). FRACS is the standard qualification required in Australia to perform surgery in private and public hospitals, and is the only plastic surgery qualification recognised by the Australian Medical Council. Dr Sanki is also a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). This is the peak plastic surgery body in Australia.
Medical research
Dr Sanki was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy at the University of Sydney. Her research has helped advance the treatment of melanoma. She has published numerous articles in prestigious international medical journals and has presented this research at Australian and international conferences. She received numerous awards during her training and, with a strong commitment to both the practical and academic aspects of surgery, Dr Sanki regularly teaches plastic surgery trainees preparing to sit their Fellowship exam.
