Stem Cell skincare

In this week’s latest and greatest, we trial a brand new offering in the stem cell beauty market: Lifeline Stem Cell Skincare.

Lifeline Skincare is based on human parthenogenetic stem cells, which can divide and proliferate for long periods. Stem cells have a natural ability to repair damaged cells and accelerate the production of new, healthy ones.

At the molecular level, stem cells secrete proteins (growth factors, peptides and other signaling molecules) that regulate the expression levels of various genes. In terms of the health and appearance of the skin, this means regulation of cell growth, and proliferation, differentiation and renewal of damaged skin to help improve skin firmness, elasticity and the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Developed by scientists at the International Stem Cell Corporation who were pioneering stem cell research for diseases such as Parkinson’s and diabetes, they discovered this stem cell technology also had the potential to dramatically address age-related skin changes.

Lifeline Stem Cell Skincare range‘Lifeline Stem Cell Skin Care is radically different to any other skincare product because we use non-embryonic human stem cell extracts with the ability to restore youthful skin by creating millions of healthy new cells,’ says Catherine Lezer, Director at Stem Cell Skin Science.

Derived from unfertilised eggs, these fragile stem cell extracts are encapsulated in a lipid bi-layer and enhanced with powerful nutrients to help stimulate the skin’s ability to renew itself. ‘The key aim is to replace damaged collagen and elastin fibres with new ones because that’s what gets you the desired youthful result – a proliferation of healthy new skin cells,’ says Lezer.

‘Clinical studies show how human stem cell extracts reduce the effects of age-related gene expression changes, which can help make the skin look firmer and more youthful. Lifeline Skincare “messages” or tells your skin to behave younger and build new skin cells. I believe ethical human stem cell technology heralds the dawn of a new anti-ageing era,’ she concludes.

The Lifeline Skincare range contains: Defensive Day Moisture Serum SPF15 with HSC-x (RRP $198), Recovery Night Moisture Serum with HSC-x (RRP $198) and Eye Firming Complex with HSC-x (RRP $137.50).
