As fashion trends change for the cooler seasons, so do hair trends. Voluminous hair is making major waves this winter so get your curling irons and thickening mouse ready. Sebastian Professional creative director, Kate Reid, has identified three hot trends to liven up your winter wardrobe – the retro bob, texturized waves and rockabilly curls. Here, Reid shares her step-by-step guide to enliven your look with this seasons ‘it’ hairstyles:

The Retro Bob

Inspired by all that’s polished and refined, this enhanced bob will add instant glamour to any look.

Step 1: Distribute a plentiful pump of Sebastian Professional Potion 9 (RRP: $48.50) through damp hair.
Step 2: Continue by layering Sebastian Professional Thickefy Foam (RRP: $39) over the top, and blast hair dry while it’s flipped upside down.
Step 3: Once dry, blow-dry hair smooth using a medium-sized barrel brush
Step 4: Create intensified volume by spraying a mist of Sebastian professional Shine Define (RRP: $32) into the root area and section the hair, creating a separated bottom and top area.
Step 5: Taking the bottom section, use a crimping tool to crimp hair. Focus on the roots to achieve that enhanced lift.
Step 6: Once the bottom sections complete, take the top section and lightly smooth over and conceal the crimped areas of hair.
Step 7: To leave the look with an illuminating shine, finish with a light spray of Sebastian Professional Halo Mist (RRP: $38)

Sexy, Texturised Waves

Texturised waves will have you turning heads for all the right reasons. To achieve this look:

Step 1: Apply two tennis ball-sized amounts of Thickefy Foam onto air-dried hair, focusing on the roots.
Step 2: Layer a similar amount of Sebastian Professional Whipped Crème (RRP: $39) over the top from roots to tips, this time concentrating product on the tips of your strands.
Step 3: Using a diffuser, flip hair upside down and blast dry with a hair dryer.
Step 4: Complete the look with a texturized finish by scrunching Sebastian Professional Shine Crafter (RRP: $36) Wax through out the ends and impart the style with an effortless edge.

Rockabilly Curls

Bring out your inner Dita Von Teese and enjoy the cool weather in retro style with this vintage do.

Step 1: Start by applying Sebastian professional Mousse Forte (RRP: $36) and Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray (RRP: $34) into damp hair to amp up volume.
Step 2: Continue by blow-drying hair to set in product and the extra height.
Step 3: Using hot rollers, section hair and work your way through the entire head rolling and then securing the rollers with bobby pins.
Step 4: Once all the rollers have been set, let hair completely dry and lightly brush out the curls using a paddle brush.
Step 5: Taking a front square section of hair, create a loose chignon and pin into place using bobby pins.
Step 6: Complete the style by applying Shine Define to finish the look with a glamorous shine-enhanced hold.
