Millie Bobby Brown may be just 13 years old, but ever since her 2016 Netflix debut she has become something of a beauty icon for teenagers and adults alike.
And if there’s one aspect of the star’s style that has received a disproportionate level of attention since her rapid rise to fame, it has to be her cropped locks.
While the British model’s hair currently resides in a wavy lob, it was previously reduced to a buzz cut for her role as Eleven in the retro sci-fi drama Stranger Things. Last week, Brown took to Instagram to give her 12.2 million followers an insight into what it was like sacrifice her hair for the part.
‘The day I shaved my head was the most empowering moment of my whole life,’ she wrote. ‘The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to. The only image I had in my head about what I could possibly look like is Charlize Theron in Madmax.’
Demonstrating a level of maturity beyond her years, the Emmy winner continued: ‘As I looked at myself and couldn’t see my old self, I realised that now I have a job to do and that is to inspire other girls that your image or exterior part is not what I think is important. What I find important is caring, loving and inspiring other girls. Thought to share my thoughts during this life changing moment.’
Earlier this month, Brown earned a place on a multitude of ‘best dressed’ lists for her Golden Globe 2018 outfit choice – a silk Calvin Klein by Appointment mini-dress paired to perfection with twinkling Repossi jewellery and matching kitten heels.
In addition to highlighting her own sense of style, the Find Me star’s backless LBD signified her support of the ‘Time’s Up’ campaign against sexual harassment.
