Autumn/Winter Makeup Trends

High-impact, low-maintenance looks with a nod to the 90s. Here’s what to wear on your face this season.

Throwback lips

The 90s are calling, and they demand darker, matte lip colours in burgundies, rich berries, maroons and brick-browns. Choose a colour at least two shades darker than your natural skin tone to nail the look.

Russet eyes

It’s time to swap out your greys for your browns to create the trusty smoky eye. Just like the muted glamour of a burgundy lip, russet-coloured eyeshadows are hard to ignore right now.

Warm browns – ranging from jewel tones to creamy chocolates – are easy to work with and the neutral undertones make them universally flattering. Try a russet-coloured eyeshadow both on your top lid and below your bottom lid to really make your eyes pop and sparkle. Finish with eyeliner and a light lashing of mascara. PS: Your trusty bronzer can also double as brown eyeshadow.

Complexion multi-taskers

Okay, we hear you. A flawless complexion is a holy grail rather than a trend, but some of the new contenders in the skincare/ foundation hybrid category are well worth a mention.

Light and luminous is the name of the game. This is about celebrating your beautiful skin, not masking it.
