Gemma Rogers, National Education Manager for Estee Lauder, shares this season’s trending lip looks.

What’s the latest in lip trends?

Current lip trends point to a classic bold lip, perhaps with an interesting texture such as a high-lustre or soft balm-textured lipstick. Lip liners are also definitely having a resurgence – whether that’s matching to lip colour or using a shade deeper than the lip colour.

Tell us more about the lip liner trend…

A lip liner is the perfect accessory to create a fuller lip, make lip colour last longer or for giving great definition. Lip liners are multi-taskers and can also be used alone with a balm for a natural yet defined look. To get this look, try Double Wear 24H Stay-in-Place Lip Liner in Blush, $46, which will resist feathering, fading and smudging whilst hydrating the delicate lip area.

Should we be making lips the focal part of the face?

Yes, definitely! To make a bold lip even more impactful, keep the rest of your makeup pared back to make a lip statement!

Is there a resurgence towards gloss lipsticks?

All lip textures are having a moment, but there is a definite proclivity towards products that ‘colour and care’, such as those with a gloss, balm or satin texture. It’s even better if it can double up as a cheek gloss, too! Try Estee Lauder Pure Color Revitalizing Crystal Balm in Hope Crystal, $58, on lips and cheeks for a fresh, healthy look.

What colours are in?

We’re seeing bold ruby-red shades, mauves and nudes trending for 2023.

How can we keep lips looking plump and hydrated?

Estee Lauder has a lip care range to maintain lip health and hydration throughout the winter season and beyond. To pamper your lips, try prepping with Pure Color Envy Smoothing Sugar Scrub, $56, to gently exfoliate. Follow with Pure Color Envy Night-time Rescue Lip Oil Serum, $58, a luxurious yet weightless texture that plumps lips with moisture. CBM
