The stress of time and finances can push girls like us over the edge, but there are some ways to take the stress out of your beauty routine and still get results.

So you can’t hit the spa, gym or even the hairdressers as often as you would like. There are some simple DIY additions to your weekly routine that will keep you going in between visits.

Here is your personal survival kit to maintain your budget, while making sure you don’t neglect your beauty.

Hair

Neglecting your hair is a big no-no! If you’re too time or cash poor for those salon treatments every two weeks, why not do one at home? A treatment once a week will make a noticeble difference to your hair’s condition.

Treat your mane right and start spraying a leave-in-treatment in your hair once your it is towel dried. Most hair treatments have a load of important nourishing ingredients that all hair types need and can benefit from. They’re also good to protect hair and aid in styling.

If you’re using those damaging styling tools we all love, make sure you apply a heat protector so you don’t damage your gorgeous locks. A good heat protector will stops your hair from drying and breaking, making it easier to style.

Skin

At-home facials once a week are an easy skin pick-me-up. The type of mask will depend on the nature of your skin and what your skin requires.

Exfoliation is your friend. Do it once a week to get rid of all those dead skin cells, leaving you with a smooth canvas to work with. Exfoliation can also help to remove lines and wrinkles.

When we sleep our skin cells ‘turnover’, allowing your skin to absorb nutrients more slowly, so invest in a good night cream. Make sure to use your night cream consistently, like most things, you won’t reap the benefits if you don’t do it all the time. Moisturising your skin before bed will keep your skin looking younger and vibrant for longer.

Body

Don’t neglect your body, especially when we’re heading towards summer and party season is on the horizon. Remember, it’s all about consistency!

Our bank accounts take a big hit from gym memberships, especially in those financial stressed months. You have the option of freezing your membership for up to three months at a time. This is a great option when the sun is shining and you can take your workout outdoors.

Alternatively, do this when you feel you can’t handle handing out those extra pennies and start a workout regime at home. There are a million great at-home programs you can find online, where the only equipment you need is yourself! Get to those thigh aching squats and lunges we love to hate. Tone the arms with some push ups and some abdominal work with sit-ups or try skipping.

Nails

The at-home mani and pedi is now in session! It takes practice to master a great mani or pedi, but if you have the right tools you can do it.

Grab an emery board, nail buffer, cuticle oil, a base and topcoat polish to go under and over your colour. Hand cream is a necessity to keep in all of your handbags.

You’ll be well on your way to beauty on a budget before you know it!
