What is LED therapy?

The healing power of light has been used for thousands of years, and light-based therapies have been proven to treat a range of skin conditions and concerns, as well as promote faster healing and improving the results of cosmetic treatments.

For the most common cosmetic indications, light-based treatments can be broadly categorised as intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, light-emitting diode (LED) therapy and laser therapies.

LED therapy delivers light at certain wavelengths to stimulate cellular activity in the dermis and increase blood flow, stimulating collagen in the dermis and promoting an anti-ageing, rejuvenating effect from within. LED treatment is often recommended before and after surgery, as well as a standalone skin revitalisation treatment.

How does Healite II work?

Healite II uses low-level light therapy with LEDs to soothe and target deep into the skin cells, heightening their internal functions.

Healite II bio-stimulates the skin at subcellular, cellular and tissue levels to help existing cells work better, repair damaged ones and stimulate collagen production.

Which wavelength is right for me?

Certain light wavelengths are used to cause different reactions in the skin. For example, near-infrared light deeply penetrates the dermis and stimulates blood flow and collagen rebuilding in the skin’s deeper layers. Red light is responsible for reducing inflammation and promoting cellular repair.

Blue light, which is a shorter wavelength, doesn’t penetrate as deeply and is used for its anti-microbial effect, inhibiting the growth of acne-causing bacteria.

There is no downtime from a standalone Healite II treatment. However, if Healite II treatment is an adjunctive treatment, there may be some associated downtime to the other procedure undertaken.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically, it is advised 2 treatments per week over a period and some patients see and feel the results just after one treatment. Your practitioner will discuss your treatment goals and determine a plan.
