Midlife Australians are facing a silent sleep gap — and it’s taking a toll

Poor sleep is becoming an increasingly common issue for Australians, particularly those navigating the busy midlife years. New figures from the Australian Institute of Health & Welfare reveal that 48% of adults aged 35–55 experience at least two symptoms of poor sleep each night, while one in three Australians aren’t reaching the recommended seven to nine hours.

Work pressures, family responsibilities, hormonal changes and underlying health concerns are all playing a role. Add the effects of late-night screen time and our caffeine habits—which can deplete magnesium levels and delay melatonin release by up to 90 minutes—and it’s clear why so many people are struggling to rest, recover and reset.

On a mission to restore balance and improve Australia’s sleep hygiene,  MagnesiumFactor has introduced its Sleep & Calm once-daily oral powder — a TGA-listed (AUST L 449825) chocolate-flavoured formula created to help support the nervous system and encourage a smoother transition into rest.

This bedtime blend delivers 350 mg of elemental magnesium combined with glycine, jujube and lemon balm, ingredients traditionally used to promote calm and support the body’s natural overnight rhythm.

Sleep & Calm once-daily oral powder $57.94

The formulation features three highly bioavailable and sustainably sourced forms of magnesium — glycinate, citrate and amino acid chelate. Together, they work to support the body’s neuromuscular and stress-regulation pathways, which play an important role in relaxation, muscle recovery and overall nervous system balance.

Proudly produced in Australia and listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), Sleep & Calm meets verified standards for safety, quality and efficacy. It’s naturally sweetened, gentle on the stomach and free from magnesium oxide, artificial colouring and added sugar — making it suitable for everyday use across ages and lifestyles.

For Australians feeling the strain of disrupted sleep, this simple addition to a nightly routine may help create a more settled, restorative wind-down ritual.
