Travelling in style has never been easier than with Crumpler (AKA #BagNerds). Their luggage collection is durable (all Crumpler bags come with a lifetime guarantee – yes, you heard right, lifetime!), space-efficient and easy to manoeuvre. Most importantly, the luggage looks the part.
Suitable for those “who know how to travel” the Vis-à-vis collection from Crumpler has skyrocketed the brand to remarkable heights of success. Next year, as Australian athletes jet set to the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, they will be sporting none-other than an exclusive (yet to be released) version of the luggage line.
‘Although Crumpler has been around for 21 years, it has flown under the radar with a loyal core of customers, mainly in the CBDs of Sydney and Melbourne, where the brand has appealed to urban commuters travelling by foot, bike or public transport,’ explains Chief executive Peter Stockdale. ‘The Olympic sponsorship will also help Australian customers understand that Crumpler is more than just messenger bags and backpacks.’
The Crumpler story began 20 years ago when two high school friends – also the owners of a bicycle courier business in Melbourne – became fed up with the bags couriers used. It was one of their part-time employees, Stuart Crumpler, who offered the solution. After opening the company in 1995, and participating in trade shows overseas in 1997, the trio sold the courier business and threw all their energy into making practical bags for outdoor use – full time “bag nerds”.
From the original courier bag, the company grew to produce cases for laptops, cameras and surfboards. It now has 18 stores in Australia and another 17 in Asia.
The Vis-à-vis collection launched of Crumpler into the check-in luggage market. The bags are made from a polycarbonate/ABS blend, and are the optimum balance between lightweight and durable. Recessed glide-wheels make for effortless manoeuvring, and in-build TSA locks and bright (or green or blue) safety straps make the bags secure and unforgettable.
