Shape Clinic, founded by specialist plastic surgeon, Dr Steven Liew in 2005, has relocated from its original first floor space, to the top floor and is now spread out over two levels with striking Sydney views, stunning architectural design and a large outdoor space.

Dr Liew worked alongside local Paddington Interior Architect, George Livissianis to create a new space. The project started in June 2021 and was completed in November 2022.

Concept

The feeling of serenity and privacy start as soon as you enter the space, through a frosted glass door and private buzzer. The clinic is designed with the patient in mind as well as a focus on quiet and calming, understated luxury. The space is contemporary, minimal, soft, and soothing, with a simple grey palette that instantly makes you feel calm. The soft grey tones with a blue-green undertone, textured fabric, concrete floors, high gloss wall panelling, and linen curtains all work together to create a simple, elegant atmosphere.

Dr Liew sought to create a space that would house the growing clinic but also craft a sense of calmness and safety, while expressing the futuristic approach of his clinic’s practice – which is at the forefront and often the instigators of new cosmetic and plastics procedures in Australia.

Curve

The space has been sculpted with curves that intuitively flow from one area to the next, adding softness to the space and creating a vibrant feeling. Dr Liew wanted to create the curve and the space so they are both soft and inviting, guiding you from one space to another. For him, the softness in the curve also reflects physical beauty, every part of the face as a complex space, gently guiding from a convex surface to a gentle concave curve, nothing flat nothing sharp, a soft, organic beauty.

Light

As patients move from the entry level to the rooftop, there is an uplifting sense. The upper level is flooded with daylight, creating a greater sense of space, privacy, and exclusivity. “It’s about elevating what is being offered to patients seeking aesthetic improvement,” says Dr Liew. “We want them to walk in feeling calm with their experience, yet safe. It’s important for patients to receive an optimal treatment and sensory feel.”

Dr Liew feels that light itself is a life force; that is, we need light for everyday to brighten up our lives. Chi in Asian culture is very important, and shape is all about being the life force.

The clinic offers a wide range of cosmetic and plastic surgery treatments including surgical, non-surgical, skincare treatments, and body contouring. Dr Liew and his team of experts use the latest technology and techniques to ensure patients receive the best possible results. The clinic is committed to delivering safe and effective treatments. The team is dedicated to ensuring that each patient’s individual needs are met.

“We are committed to helping our patients feel confident and beautiful in their own skin,” says Dr Liew. “Our goal is to make sure that each patient leaves Shape Clinic feeling confident, refreshed, and rejuvenated.”

“From the educational perspective, we have created the “Shape creative space” to educate and collaborate with other aesthetic practitioners locally and around the world. The new Shape clinic also has a dedicated educational space with state-of-the-art AV system that allow us to broadcast what we do worldwide,” says Dr Liew. “Shape Clinic has always been considered to be a centre of excellence and this new space enhances that experience.”
