Clarins Extra Firming skincare range recently enjoyed a relaunch, with a fun, interactive takeover of the Bodylove Pilates ‘The Penthouse’ studio.
The event, held over two days, was open to the public, who could book Reformer Pilates and enjoy skincare treatments and samples. Guests were also treated to information about how the iconic French cosmetics and skincare brand was incorporating Australian beauty secrets.
The Extra Firming Skincare range is a 50plus year fusion of botanical goodness and scientific research. Its star ingredient of Australian Kangaroo Flower, together with organic Mitracarpus, organic oat sugars, leaf of life and other exceptional plant ingredients, work to promote a supple and firm complexion and bouncy skin that truly glows.
Clarin Extra Firming Skincare Hero Ingredient – Native Australian Kangaroo Flower
Australian Kangaroo Flower is, as you’d expect, extremely resilient (a lot like we’d like our skin to be throughout life). It also has the capacity to regenerate, even in deficient or burnt soils, and it produces large quantities of seeds. Clarins researchers found that its extract could help optimise the skin’s regenerative potential, and was an excellent source of firmness.
Clarins cultivates the Australia native from November to February, and it does so with respect for the environment at front of mind. The long stems are hand cut and carefully transported, then the flowers are put into dehydrators for about 12 hours before shredding. Liquid maceration, a gentle, ecological process that respects the plant’s actives and the environment, extracts the plant essence.
Extra Firming Skincare Supporting Ingredients
There’s a host of other botanical beauties in this skincare collection.
Firstly, Mitracarpus, also known as Girdlepod. It’s a small perennial plant from West Africa, included in Clarins Extra Firming skincare range to help reinforce skin firmness.
Succory Dock-Cress is a widespread annual French plant that helps to protect the skin from the environment. It’s long been used to heal scabies and soothe irritation caused by breast-feeding (hence its nickname, “nipplewort”). It has anti-free radical properties and helps stimulate the skin’s natural defences against environmental aggressors.
Desert Date is great for smoothing an uneven complexion. It’s super hydrating and treats skin to a good dose of nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc and vitamins A and E, which help with the skin smoothing process. Desert date also has anti-inflammatory properties, so is thought to help protect against environmental damage.
Kalanchaloe, or Leaf of Life, helps the skin retain moisture. Clarins has established Fair Trade agreements in partnership with Jardins Du Monde to organically cultivate and harvest the Leaf of Life used its products.
