In the heart of rural Victoria, beauty took on a deeper meaning as local businesswomen Teash (founder of Tease Her Beauty) and Emma Atkins (owner of The Hair Nook Studio) hosted a Hair & Makeup How-To Afternoon on Sunday, July 27 in Edenhope.
Presented in collaboration with Lifeforce Edenhope, a grassroots mental health organisation dedicated to suicide prevention in regional and farming communities, the event brought together a room full of women for an afternoon of learning, laughter and connection. What began as a beauty workshop quickly evolved into something more powerful — a space of confidence, community and real conversation.
‘It was such a perfect setting,’ says Teash. ‘It created this personal, intimate energy where we could connect with every guest.’
Emma opened the session with a practical take on hair health — sharing tips on scalp care, managing product build-up, and the often-overlooked role of proper washing techniques. Teash followed with a skin-focused segment on building a consistent skincare routine, understanding the skin barrier, and how that all translates into better makeup application and lasting glow.
Both women kept their presentations approachable and judgement-free, encouraging questions and making the experience interactive from start to finish.
‘There was so much curiosity in the room,’ says Teash. ‘People wanted to know everything — what cleanser to use, whether they should double cleanse, how to layer skincare, how often to wash their hair. It was amazing to see that genuine interest. We just kept it real and relatable.’
With glasses of bubbly in hand, guests were treated to local grazing boards, generous conversation and luxe gift bags, thanks to donations from Murad, Muk Haircare and De Lorenzo. The thoughtful touches gave the afternoon a warm, celebratory feel — without losing sight of its deeper purpose.
At its core, the event was a fundraiser and awareness initiative for Lifeforce Edenhope. With suicide rates remaining disproportionately high in rural communities, the organisation plays a vital role in education, connection and prevention efforts across Victoria.
‘Emma and I are both so passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces where beauty isn’t just about appearance — it’s about self-worth, wellbeing and mental health,’ says Teash. ‘When women feel confident and supported, it changes everything.’
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and plans are already underway for the next event.
