Lancôme, the iconic French luxury beauty brand, has proudly unveiled the newly renovated Rose House at the Domaine de la Rose estate in Grasse, an eco-designed, contemporary pink monolith in the historic heart of French perfumery.
The UNESCO-listed Domaine de la Rose is an ecological horticultural site spanning nearly 10 acres which holds a special place in Lancôme’s heritage.
With Rose House sitting as the centrepiece of Domaine de la Rose, the estate is dedicated to the organic polyculture of perfume plants and is where Lancôme aims to contribute to the preservation, transmission and celebration of local biodiversity and perfume heritage.
For over 50 years, Domaine de la Rose has cultivated fragrant plants and organic roses, making it the ideal location to nurture and develop the extraordinary skincare breakthrough of Lancôme’s Absolue range. Designed to push the boundaries of luxury skincare, Absolue harnesses the power of ‘Longevity Science’, a revolutionary scientific frontier that aims to redefine the ageing process at a molecular level.
At the heart of the Absolue range lies a remarkable ingredient: the perpetual rose. On five hectares in Grasse at Le Domaine de la Rose, the Absolue Perpetual Rose is a phenomenon of nature blooming rigorously almost all year long. The species is harvested each year in May, and it takes 800 kilograms of rose petals to make just 1 kilogram of Rose Absolue.
These roses have long been the symbol of Lancôme and those grown in the south of France are woven into many of the brand’s beloved products.
