The treatment that’s shaking up non-surgical facial rejuvenation

NeoGen PSR Plasma treatment

NeoGen PSR Plasma is a new non-surgical treatment that’s promising to redefine non-surgical facial rejuvenation. it addresses fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, sun-damage, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and uneven skin tone and texture.

We spoke with Sydney cosmetic surgeon, Dr Michael Zacharia, for his take on this innovative treatment.

What is NeoGen PSR Plasma?

The NeoGen PSR Plasma treatment uses plasma energy to enhance skin texture, tone and elasticity. Unlike traditional laser treatments that rely on light, Neogen Plasma employs nitrogen plasma to uniformly heat the skin tissue. This process promotes collagen production and skin regeneration, leading to a more youthful appearance.

What does NeoGen PSR Plasma address?

NeoGen PSR Plasma addresses a variety of skin concerns. These include fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, sun-damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and uneven skin tone and texture. By targeting these issues, the treatment helps improve overall skin quality and appearance.

Who do you recommend has it?

Anyone seeking non-surgical alternatives to traditional facelift procedures. It is ideal for those who desire skin improvement without the downtime associated with surgery. It’s beneficial mild to moderate signs of ageing or skin damage. It can also serve as a preventative measure to maintain youthful skin. In fact, this device is often used at the end of face or eyelid surgery. It helps to achieve further resurfacing and tightening.

What is involved?

The NeoGen PSR Plasma treatment begins with a thorough consultation to assess the patient’s skin condition and discuss their goals and expectations. During the preparation phase, the skin is cleansed and a topical anaesthetic may be applied if necessary. The treatment involves applying the NeoGen Plasma device to the skin, which delivers controlled pulses of nitrogen plasma. This energy heats the skin tissue to a precise temperature, stimulating collagen production and remodelling. After the treatment, post-care instructions are provided to ensure optimal healing and results. Patients may experience some redness and swelling, which typically subsides within a few days. Unlike laser resurfacing, you won’t feel continued heat coming out of the skin after the treatment, only heat during the treatment.

Results

Immediately after a low energy treatment, patients can notice smoother, firmer skin, but the skin will be pink. Over the following weeks to months, the skin continues to improve as collagen production increases. This results in firmer, tighter and more youthful-looking skin.

Low energy treatments may require three to five sessions, four to six weeks apart. If you’re having higher energy treatments, you may only need the one session. Or at least a four month gap between further treatments if desired.

The results can last for several years, depending on individual skin type, lifestyle and skincare routine. Regular maintenance treatments can help prolong the effects.

Downtime?

Higher energy treatments come with seven to ten days of downtime. The area will peel. You’ll be unable to wear makeup for at least seven days.
