Dr Natasha Cook’s drNC has expanded its sun care range with the launch of SheerShield SPF 50, a new mineral sunscreen designed to offer high broad-spectrum protection with a lightweight, invisible finish.

The TGA-listed zinc sunscreen has been formulated, made and tested in Australia, with the brand positioning it as a new-generation mineral SPF for the Australian sun. Developed using non-nano zinc technology, SheerShield SPF 50 has been created for daily use on the face and body and is designed to suit all skin types and tones.

For Dr Natasha Cook, Sydney-based dermatologist and founder of drNC, the aim was to challenge one of the biggest frustrations with mineral sunscreen: the texture.

‘Consumers have been conditioned to accept that mineral sunscreens are thick, heavy and leave a visible residue on the skin,’ says Dr Cook.

‘We wanted to challenge that category standard entirely. SheerShield SPF 50 was developed to deliver high-performance zinc protection with the cosmetic elegance consumers actually want to wear every day.’

Confidence in SPF

The launch comes at a time when consumer confidence in SPF claims has been under the spotlight, following recent concerns around sunscreens that did not meet their labelled SPF ratings.

With SheerShield SPF 50, drNC says it has gone beyond standard testing requirements, with every batch retested in Australian SPF testing facilities before being released to consumers.

‘In light of the current SPF climate, where concerns around misleading claims and formulation failures continue to emerge, I wanted to ensure we went beyond the required standards by retesting every batch in Australian trustworthy facilities, before release to the market place so customers can feel confident their skin is protected at a level that matches the rating on the product,’ Dr Cook says.

Made for everyday wear

SheerShield SPF 50 has been designed to slot easily into a modern skincare routine, either worn alone or under makeup. The formula is lightweight and breathable, with drNC describing the finish as truly invisible rather than chalky or whitening.

The new launch also reflects the broader drNC philosophy of evidence-led skincare, transparency and high-performance formulations created for Australian conditions.

Known for its streamlined approach to skincare, drNC was developed by Dr Cook to support skin longevity while keeping routines simple. The range is centred around multi-tasking formulas and a strong focus on niacinamide, an ingredient used throughout the drNC skincare line to support concerns including ageing, pigmentation, congestion, dehydration, sensitivity and sun damage.

SheerShield SPF 50 joins the existing drNC sun care range, which includes Concentrated CC+ Cream SPF 30, FaceShield SPF 50 Invisible Matte Finish, FaceShield GLOW SPF 50 and LipShield SPF 30.

drNC SheerShield SPF 50 is available now at drncskin.com, RRP $99 for 95g.

Always read the label and follow directions for use. Avoid prolonged high-risk sun exposure, reapply frequently and wear protective clothing, hats and eyewear when exposed to the sun.
