It’s only October, but Melbourne Cup usually starts the party season that runs all the way through to New Years Day in Australia. This means you’ll probably have a bunch of festivities right around the corner. To help give you some inspiration, please find my top five makeup ideas:
1. Matte red lip and winged liner
An absolute timeless and classic makeup combo – a red lip and winged liner.
Red lipstick is perfect for the holiday season and using a matte lippy will give you a splash of long-lasting colour. Nu Skin have a beautiful matte red lipstick. They’re Powerlips Fluid in the shade Roar has a light and silky, non-sticky consistency and is comfortable on the lips. The Sueded Comfort Cushion technology and ingredients like avocado oil and vitamin E leave your lips feeling soft, not dry like some other mattifying lipsticks.
Achieving a winged eye is easier than you think. Draw a diagonal line from the outer corner of your eye towards the end of your eyebrow. Then, connect the line back down to your lash line with the desired thickness of your wing and full in. Finish off with a nice, thick coat of mascara.
2. Gold shimmery eyes with a glowy base
Gold, shimmery eye makeup is a great option for the festive season because it’s timeless and glamorous. It’s also a look you can keep quite subtle. A glowy, radiant base will take your makeup look to the next level. To get a beautiful, glowing base, start off with using LUMA’s Liquid Light Illuminating Primer to smooth over your face for a sheer, lit-from-within glow before applying your foundation. Then, apply LUMA’s On The Glow Highlighter to the eyelids, cheekbones, cupid’s bow and décolletage for a natural, fresh and glowing makeup look.

3. Green eyeshadow with a neutral lip
Christmas is the perfect time to break out the green eye shadow. Be sure to wear it alongside a neutral lip and minimal skin products so that your eyes are the star of the show. The best and easiest approach to a colour on the lid is to start with a wash across the entire lid and then build up, blending the colour through your eye crease.
4. Frosty silvers
Although Christmas is celebrated in the heat of Summer here in Australia, frosty silvers and whites make for an absolutely gorgeous, winter-inspired festive makeup look. Apply shimmery silvers on the eyelid and make sure you use an iridescent highlighter on the cheekbones, cupid’s bow, inner corner of your eyes, brow bone and on the tip of the nose.

5. Burgundy eyeshadow and berry lips
For a warm, berry look, you can use plum burgundy eyeshadow on your eyelid and lower lash line for a twist on the traditional smokey eye. Pair it with a berry lip, such as Nu Skin’s Powerlips Fluid in the shade Reign to complete your festive makeup look.
